Hightown to Provide Affordable Housing on Oaklands Site

Hightown Praetorian and Churches has reached agreement with Nicholas King Homes to provide 84 affordable homes on the Oaklands site in central St. Albans.

Thirty homes for rent and fifty four homes for shared ownership will be available in mid-2009 for local people who cannot afford to rent or buy at market rates.

Hightown’s Chief Executive, David Bogle, said, ‘We are delighted to be involved with this prestigious housing project in an excellent location in central St. Albans. I would like to thank Nicholas King Homes and St. Albans Council for their support and perseverance over many months. This scheme will bring much needed affordable housing to St. Albans and help people who otherwise could not afford to live and work in the area.’

Nicholas King Homes has recently commenced construction works on the site which was formerly part of Oaklands College and will release the private apartments for sale in late spring 2008.
